Des Moines Executive Honored with Consumer Finance Industry’s Highest Award
WASHINGTON, October 24, 2013 – Sharon Mancero, senior vice president of Wells Fargo Preferred Capital, has been honored with the American Financial Services Association’s (AFSA) Distinguished Service Award (DSA).
Mancero was one of three executives to receive the 2013 DSA during AFSA’s 97th Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. The association’s highest honor, the DSA is given to individuals who have contributed significantly to the industry and the association’s growth on a national level, advanced its mission and objectives, and raised its image.
She serves as the chair of AFSA’s Business Partner Advisory Board and on the association’s Board of Directors. She joined the association in 2000, and has served on the Business Partner Advisory Board since 2004.
Mancero began her career at Wells Fargo Financial Leasing as a regional sales manager in 1992 in Boston. After a series of promotions, she joined Preferred Capital in 2001 as vice president. In her current role, Mancero heads up business development and covers the U.S. and Canada region.
Mancero graduated from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, with a major in Finance and minor in Marketing.
In addition to her service to the industry, Mancero gives back to her community through her leadership giving with United Way, her roles as vice president of her homeowner’s association and as the auction sponsor chair for the Parent Teachers Association at her children’s school.
Based in Washington, D.C., AFSA (www.afsaonline.org) is the national trade association for the consumer credit industry, protecting access to credit and consumer choice. Its 350 members include consumer and commercial finance companies, auto finance/leasing companies, mortgage lenders, credit card issuers, industrial banks and industry suppliers.
