James M. Browne is a current Board Emeritus of AFSA having served as the association's chairman in 1983. He is also the recipient of AFSA's highest honor, the Distinguished Service Award (DSA). From 1974-84, he served as the CEO of Finance America, a subsidiary of Bank of America from 1974-84. From 1984-85, Jim was the Executive Vice President and COO of Beneficial Management Corp. He returned to Finance America in 1985 when the company was acquired by Chrysler and the name changed to Chrysler First. He retired in 1990.
