Professor Lew Mandell on October 24 gave the keynote address to the Business Teachers Association of New York State annual convention held in Niagara Falls. Mandell is the author of the AFSA Education Foundation's MoneySKILL curriculum. Some 350 high school business teachers were present for his remarks.

In his presentation, Mandell said MoneySKILL is being used by more than 1,000 high schools to help solve this problem.

Mandell also summarized the results of the Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy's 2004 survey looking at high school seniors' knowledge of personal finance basics.

Afterwards, Mandell demonstrated MoneySKILL to a group of nearly 100 teachers. The program is now strongly recommended as a resource by officials of the New York State Department of Education.
