The Oregon Senate Education and Work Force Committee held a hearing on Monday, March 21 on financial literacy, including one of the bills SB 748 that has been introduced to date on that issue. The bill is a "soft mandate" on school districts, because schools have other significant funding problems.

The chair of the committee, Sen. Vicki Walker, has asked the financial services industry to come in and demonstrate the existing financial literacy curricula. AFSAEF was part of a panel of Oregon credit unions, bankers and CPAs that presented personal finance curriculum.
