"The Ethical Road to Success" conference in Chicago included such nationally known speakers as John Kasich, former Republican congressman from Ohio and the host of "The Heartland with John Kasich" on the FOX News Channel. Mr. Kasich made an insightful presentation on ethics that in many ways set the tone and mood for this year's conference. Other speakers included Dan McGinn with his entertaining presentation on American trends as well as the president of Yankelovich: J. Walker Smith, Ph.D. They provided the latest consumer study on the finance industry.

AFSA Chairman of the Board, Thomas Hallman, and Vice Chairman, Specialty Finance with CIT Group Inc. gave the State of the Finance Services Industry address at the opening session. More than 300 AFSA members attended the sessions. The conference stood as a great success and included meetings of more than a dozen Committees of Professional Interest. The "Windy City" proved to be an attractive site and a proper host for the conference—with temperatures reaching the 70s during the meeting.
