AFSA Supports Regulatory Accountability Act

AFSA Staff

This week, AFSA joined 615 other groups from all 50 states on a multi-industry letter urging the Senate to consider and pass the Regulatory Accountability Act of 2017 (RAA). The RAA recently passed the House of Representatives by a bipartisan vote of 238-183 and would ensure that agencies implement the congressional intent of legislation, not the agency’s intent.

This wide-ranging, multi-industry support for the legislation is critical in impressing upon members of the Senate that they have the unique opportunity to bring change to the outdated way agencies adopt the most costly rules. The letter says that the undersigned believe that federal regulations should be “narrowly tailored, supported by strong and credible data and evidence, and impose the least burden possible, while implementing congressional intent.”

AFSA will keep its members apprised of developments regarding the RAA.
