AFSA Honors State Financial Services Legislators at National Conference of State Legislatures’ Legislative Summit

This week, AFSA hosted its annual reception honoring state legislators and their staffs who serve on financial services committees at the National Conference of State Legislatures’ (NCSL) Legislative Summit, held in Boston.

NCSL’s Communications, Financial Services, and Interstate Commerce (CFI) Committee sponsored sessions on financial services for marijuana-related businesses; money transmitter fees and taxes; and the Dodd-Frank Act.

During the Summit, NCSL adopted a resolution calling on the Federal Government to remove cannabis from Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act, thus enabling financial institutions to provide banking services to marijuana businesses where it’s legal under state law.
